Too fancy for nuns? The 2nd bathroom.

Here are the pictures of the second bathroom that has been decorated and changed recently. Last time I posted pictures of the en suite bathroom and I was a little concerned that it was too fancy for the sisters and I when we (hopefully) use this as our house in England. Once Mother saw the pictures I'm posting here she said she was relieved there weren't walls of mirrors in this one! So what do you think? Comments are welcome as always.

Sr Zdenka SASD.

Sr Zdenka, a founding member of our order went to her heavenly reward last night, her rosary clutched to her lips. She passed away at the age of 108, after receiving the last rites and is now with the angels.

She first joined an order in Slovenia when she was 16 and was 98 when she became one of the first members of our order. She was our head cook and made wonderful food which was always served with a smile. Even though she had crippling arthritis in both wrists and in her knees she would kneel for hours at a time in our chapel praying for the people we treated in our clinic. Her death was peaceful and Mother told me she died with that lovely smile on her face. I am sorry that I did not get to say a proper "goodbye" to her but it truly was an honour to have known her.

Our loss is heaven's gain.

Rest In Peace Sr Zdenka. We will meet again.

Too fancy for nuns?

These are pictures of the new bathroom that has been fitted in the house I am living in currently. As the owners want us to have the house (at a very reduced price) to use as a base in the UK for our order we were very happy with it as it was. But then the shower in the en-suite bathroom (off the main bedroom) started to drip and when I told the owners they decided it all needed to be redone. So ten days ago some workmen came, worked 9-5 and now the bathroom is brand new. It has fitted cupboards, a huge shower, mosaic tiling and two of the four walls are covered with mirrors! In the (first) picture that you see above, that is taken looking into the one mirror which is above the cupboards and the toilet (second picture). Mother did say that the owners had promised her they wouldn't make it too luxurious but it seems they've got carried away. I thought I was lucky to be using the main bathroom which was quite plain but last week a man came to measure it and next week the workmen will come again and we will get a second new bathroom. Mother told me she'd asked for less mirrors this time so we'll keep our fingers crossed...

A new man in my life!

As you can see from these pictures above, I have a new man in my life. His name is Jim and he was 20 in May. His owner died so a lady who attends the same church as I do thought he'd be company for me. He came with a blanket, a bed, some food and two bottles of pills. He has to have them each day as they help with his thyroid problems and his enlarged heart but luckily they are cheap to buy and the lady who gave him to me works at the local vet's and says that the staff will give them to me free of charge (though they do want prayer for all their lovely animals and that is of course my gift to them!) Jim is always very hungry in the morning but will sleep until noon once he has had his breakfast. He is slightly senile and will suddenly forget where he is and start to shout very loudly but once he knows you're there he is okay. He is part Siamese which explains the pointy face, the noisiness and the fact that he is incredibly old. When I told Mother about him she was pleased and said that Jim would have to keep his eye on me until I could see her and the sisters again. So, thank you God, for Jim.

I don't know if this is real, but it's interesting!

Ouch!

Was changing a lightbulb yesterday when I fell off the step-ladder. It wasn't high but I twisted my ankle a little and I knocked my face against a coffee table. I thought my face was okay and I put ice on my ankle before going to bed. This morning though, I woke up and I had little bruises on my eyelid. It's not too bad and I'm thankful it's not a black eye or it might look like I had been fighting! My ankle is still a little sore so I have been putting ice on it today and hopefully it will be better soon, though all prayers are appreciated.

A Little Reminder...

This is the time in Bratislava which is the capital of Slovakia, where the order I belong to is based. This is just so that I can be reminded of "home" whenever I come to my blog.
